To honour the memory of our sadly lost competitor and friend Philip Goss the Launceston Kart Club will host the Phil Goss (Gossy) Memorial Trophy. It is intended that this trophy will be offered at the running of the Senior National Feature from 2010 onwards, but for this year will be run at the up-coming Launceston Titles meeting on 13th & 14th June 2009. The trophy will be open to all Over 40 National competitors and will be decided by a panel chosen by the Launceston Kart Club.
Phil was a valued member of the Launceston Kart Club, who contributed to the construction of the new LKC track, in particular with his excavator work in the pit area and surrounds. He enjoyed much success in his racing, being State Champion 2006 in Over 40 Heavy, the Statewide Series winner 2006 Over 40 Heavy, 2nd East Coast Over 40 Titles 2006 Coffs Harbour and a winner of the Launceston Club Title.
As this is a two-day meeting we are planning a BBQ for the Saturday night for Over 40 competitors to have a drink together and a general rah rah. Bring your own meat, etc. Drinks will be available for purchase from the bar. If you’re not Over 40 and would like to come to the BBQ, you are more than welcome.
Regardless of your interest or otherwise in the Statewide Series we are looking for a good turnout for the Over 40s to show solidarity and that our class is still strong. So if this current meeting wasn’t on your calendar, think again. Come along and have some fun with your racing mates. It would be great to see good numbers there.
